Faster bluetongue diagnosis shifts disease readiness into livestock procurement

The UK government has introduced a vet-led procedure to speed up the response to clear bluetongue suspicions in England. From 11 September, private veterinarians may clinically diagnose unambiguous cases after examining animals, with the Animal and Plant Health Agency formally confirming them. A new online system is also intended to allow vets to report suspected cases directly and more quickly.
