Outdoor pork needs an environmental specification of its own

Outdoor pig production cannot be managed through the housing-system choice alone. AHDB, the UK’s Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board, has formalised the Outdoor Pig Environmental Risk Reduction Programme to address environmental risks associated with outdoor pig enterprises in eastern England. Its first meeting took place in September and included major pork businesses, the National Pig Association and AHDB.
