Fresh beef nutrition data must no longer rely on historic averages
A new UK nutrient analysis updates a foundation that had not received a comprehensive review of fresh beef for more than three decades. Commissioned by the Department of Health and Social Care, the Food and Nutrition NBRI at the Quadram Institute analysed 25 composite samples covering twelve fresh cuts, including mince, steaks and roasting joints. The products were purchased from UK supermarkets in 2024, with sampling designed around retailers’ market shares.
