Export value is protected by market and cut diversification
US export figures for August show why the value of an international meat chain cannot be read from a single destination market. According to USMEF, US beef exports reached 86,362 tonnes, up 4% year on year, while value rose 13% to $785.9 million. Taiwan, South Korea, the Middle East, ASEAN, Colombia and Côte d’Ivoire contributed to the increase, while China remained constrained by technical trade barriers.
