Whole-genome data turn Salmonella findings into traceable chain events
Genomic pathogen research changes what traceability means in the meat chain. A study published in *Emerging Infectious Diseases* investigated *Salmonella enterica* serovar Infantis carrying the *bla*CTX-M-65 gene in South Korea during 2022–2024. The gene is associated with resistance to extended-spectrum cephalosporins. The authors describe multiple introductions and cross-sector transmission, while placing poultry and poultry-derived products among the relevant reservoirs of this increasingly international serovar.
