The softer global meat index does not replace cut-by-cut purchasing analysis

The FAO Meat Price Index fell 1.2% in October from September, while remaining slightly above its level a year earlier. International quotations for pig, ovine and bovine meat declined, whereas poultry prices were broadly stable. The update released on 6 November does not describe a butcher’s purchasing price or a farmgate price; it provides an aggregated signal from international markets.
