Argentina turns US beef access into a specification-driven sales programme

Argentina will hold the second Argentine Meat Week in the United States from 9 to 14 September. PromArgentina, Argentina’s beef promotion institute IPCVA, the Foreign Ministry, the Agriculture Secretariat and the embassy in Washington are organising the programme in Miami, Atlanta and Houston. Seventeen Argentine meatpacking companies will take part in business meetings with local importers. The official announcement places the initiative within a period of strong expansion in Argentine beef exports to the US market. According to the published figures, sales in the first half of 2026 rose 415% year on year and reached USD 463 million from January through June. Those figures describe export value; by themselves, they do not identify which cuts, quality segments or commercial destinations drove the increase. For buyers and operators, the event’s significance lies less in broad origin promotion than in work on specifications. Access to the United States requires supply, sanitary certification, logistics, cut, weight, packaging and delivery reliability to function together. Business meetings can turn market access into commercial relationships, but they cannot substitute for those operating conditions. The programme is also a signal for the international beef market. It is focused on cities with influence in foodservice, distribution and consumption, while the delegation brings together slaughter and export establishments. Argentine Meat Week should therefore be read as a B2B market-development activity. Its outcome will not be measured by event visibility, but by repeatable contracts, compliance with specifications and supply continuity after September.
